About Us
Ecumenical movement is a
divine summons to the churches to discover the unity that already exists and
manifest it visibly and thus realize the great dream of Jesus that "They all
may be one" This movement to unity all the more become imperative in the
present day context of divisive tendencies of the society.
Another eye opening factor is none of us is the cause of this division. We
have inherited the division. There is no meaning in accusing the
contemporaries for the past division. The great challenge before us is to
lay down this burden handed over to us by our forefathers and thus create a
better society.
In this process we should not think in terms of return to any churches. We
must accept the fact that unity is not uniformity. Unity goes hand in hand
with diversity and plurality. It is a move towards "Communion of churches
with rich diversities". What should unite us is our common faith that must be
discovered, expressed and celebrated together in a deeper communion. The more
we become closer to Christ the more we become closer to one another.
There are several attempts for Christian unity at Kunnamkulam. Kunnamkulam
Ecumenical Fellowship (K E F) is an attempt of priests of the locality. It
was started in 2003 on January 28 by the leadership of St. George Monastery
under guidance of Paulose Mar Milithiose, Metropolitan of Kunnamkulam
Orthodox diocese. |
